Adelshuset

A house of continuity

Adelshuset exists as the digital expression of House of Blix: its heritage, landed identity, cadet branches, and present-day stewardship.

It is also the natural frame through which the family’s estates and selected outward-facing ventures are presented.

Riverside Bliss stands as the present-day outward-facing estate expression of the house: a lived place where hospitality, land and atmosphere meet.

Heritage

Lineage and memory

The House preserves a line of continuity reaching from older Nordic traditions into the present day.

Land

Estate and place

Land, setting and physical place remain central — not as abstraction, but as lived inheritance.

Hospitality

Quiet welcome

Through Riverside Bliss and future initiatives, the House extends a selective and grounded form of hospitality.

History

Origins and continuity

The House of Blix traces its origins to early Norse lineages, with ties to the Skanke family and traditions connected to the Yngling line.

Historical accounts link the lineage to the Norse expansion period and the kingdoms of the North Sea, including the realm of Mann and the Isles following the events of the 11th century.

After the fall of that kingdom in the late 13th century, members of the family are said to have returned to Norway, where the line continued through several branches.

Over the following centuries, the family established itself in Jemtland, where it became associated with trade, landholding and public service.

Several members served as Lagrettsmenn, followed by a period of clerical service with multiple generations of parish priests between the 16th and 17th centuries.

It is during this era that the Blix name emerges in recorded use. In later generations, the family entered military and administrative service, including captains, a major and eventually Carl Torsten Blix, who served as Häradshövding.

Cadet branches

Recognised branches

Over time, the House formed several cadet branches, including Blixenkrone, de Blixenskiold, Blixenstråle and Blixenstierna.

Place memory

Nye Kluxaasen

The present estate carries the name Nye Kluxaasen, chosen in remembrance of the family’s old main seat in Jemtland, Kluxaasen.

Present line

Continuity into the present

Through changing centuries and altered conditions, the line continued into the present day through the following succession:

  • Carl Torsten Blix
  • Carl Hilding Torstensson Engman
  • Lars Erland Engman
  • Bent Blix Engman
  • Steffen Engman Blix

Estate

Riverside Bliss

Riverside Bliss is the present-day estate expression of the House of Blix, located in Southern Norway.

Surrounded by forest, river and stillness, the estate reflects the values of land, continuity and hospitality carried through generations.

Guests are received in a private and natural setting, where the experience is defined not by excess, but by atmosphere, calm and authenticity.

It is the clearest present-day bridge between the house’s heritage and its living, outward-facing form.

Private stays

The estate may be experienced through private stays, offering access to both accommodation and the surrounding landscape.

Atmosphere

The defining quality of Riverside Bliss lies in its atmosphere — the river, the silence, and the sense of place.

Continuity

The estate is not presented as a product, but as a continuation — a living extension of the House and its heritage.
